Introduction
The Alnico redundant RAID storage subsystem contains two controllers for redundancy and added performance. Each controller provides the counterpart controller with redundancy ability to help maintain normal access to Volume Sets in the event of one controller failure. When all the I/O paths (ports) on both controllers are properly combined together and the operating system multipathing I/O settings are correctly configured, nearly a double performance can be realized without sacrificing the path and controller redundancy ability.

Redundancy behavior

The Alnico redundant RAID storage subsystem implements ALAU (Asymmetric Logical Unit Access) algorithm which allows Volume Sets to be accessed by only one controller when both controllers are on-line. The controller, which controls the RAID Group, is the preferred controller and another controller is for standby. For example, RG #000 is controlled by controller 1, and the redundant RAID subsystem allows host server access RG #000 only through controller 1. Controller 2 would take over the data I/O if controller 1 fails.

Throughput Performance

The Alnico redundant RAID storage subsystem : AL-8241iA-D is built with high performance dual-core storage processor, running ASIC-based RAID 5/6 parit check in one core, while TCP/IP and iSCSI off-loading task in the other. When properly configured, AL-8241iA-D are capable of achieving unsupassed 210,000 IO/sec, which is no doubt perfect fit for I/O demanding applications. In addtion, the redundant controller supports true active/active controller configuration, cache mirring / synchronization, controller hot-swapping, and capacity-scalable dual I/O JBOD connectivity.

24 bays 4U Rackmount, Dual and redundant controller supported, 4 x 10GbE iSCSI to SAS RAID Subsystem

The Alnico AL-8241iA-D 10GbE iSCSI Dual controller RAID subsystem are PetaStor's innovative iSCSI-attached, redundant controller capable RAID subsystem utilizing Dual 10Gigabit Ethernet ports for iSCSI connectivity on each controller in a gigantic 4U 24-bay chassis. Alnico iSCSI family provides complete iSCSI SAN benefits such as easy deployment, SAN adaptability, quick implementation, and excellent price effectiveness.

Alnico 24-bay iSCSI RAID subsystem is available for either redundant controller or single controller to flexibly satisfy the needs for various applications, the RAID controller is built with high performance dual-core storage processor, running ASIC-based RAID-5/6 parity check in one core, while TCP/IP and iSCSI off-loading task in the other. When properly configured, AL-8241iA-D are capable of achieving unsurpassed 210,000 IO/sec by dual controller, which is no doubt perfect fit for I/O demanding applications. In addition, the redundant controller supports true active/active controller configuration, cache mirroring / synchronization, controller hot-swapping, and capacity-scalable dual I/O JBOD connectivity.

Coupled with AL-8161Ji ( SAS Expander) supporting up to 72 SAS/SATAII devices connected. Alnico 8 iSCSI RAID provides the burgeoning applications with the most high-end data security without sacrificing performance concurrency.

Like every member of Alnico RAID, AL-8241iA-D not only stand out of their gigantic storage space but also inherits all features of Alnico Series: rock-solid housing, top-quality components, completely hot-swappable / redundant / cable-less / modularized designed, management simplicity in LCD panel or Web browser-based GUI. More to the point, SMBs and enterprises will be benefited by AL-8241i-D's budget-friendly affordability, and rewarded by quick and easy deployment with existing IP network infrastructure for applications such as virtualized storage environment, IP surveillance, storage consolidation, and on-line data replication.
